Shrosphire jobs board

Writing a job advertisement for the internet is different to writing a job advertisement for printed media and should therefore be treated differently. Our job board carries a wide selection of Shropshire based jobs, so make sure that your job advertisement stands out from the crowd.

With the internet you are not generally limited to the amount of space you use or the number of lines of text you write.  You should therefore use this to your advantage by giving details not only about the job itself but also about the company, your working environment and above all, the reasons why a prosective candidate should come to work for your organisation.

Choose your words carefully.  More text does not necessarily result in a better job advertisement.  The internet is a very fluid environment and the next job advertisement is always only one click away.  Cover the points you need to discuss, keeping the main advertisement copy to no more than four to five paragraphs.

When writing a job advertisement many employers rely too heavily on the 'job description' kept on file by the organisation.  Whilst job descriptions outline key tasks and duties, they do very little to help sell your job to prospective candidates.  Your advertisement must grab Attension, create Interest and generate Desire (AID).  A well written job advertisement will give a solid overview of the job but will also elaberate on benefits such as pension schemes, health care, holidays, bonuses etc.

The Benefits to you...

A well written job advertisement will;
  • Generate suitably qualified candidates.
  • Reduce the amount of time you spend interviewing.
  • Reduce the amount of money you spend on advertising.
  • Create desire, resulting in the suitable candidate being motivated to accept an offer of employment.
